Environmental Outreach: School
Leadership in Urban Runoff Reduction Project (SLURRP)
The purpose of Living Classrooms Foundation's School Leadership in Urban Runoff Reduction Project (SLURRP) is to provide a sustainable and replicable project for urban schools that will help them attain a "Meaningful" Chesapeake Bay or Stream Outdoor Experience as defined by the Chesapeake Bay 2000 (C2K) Agreement. SLURRP provides a project-based learning experience for students that is centered on the question, "What is stormwater runoff pollution, and how can we help prevent it?" Activities include neighborhood trash reduction, storm drain stenciling and community outreach, rain barrel creation and implementation, storm drain research, and green space planting. This project is possible thanks to grant funding from the NOAA B-WET program.
